Our New Home

If you haven't heard the new, we're moving to Hawaii in June.  Shelby's job is taking us there.

The island we will be living on is Oahu.  Hawaii is 5 hours behind Eastern Standard Time.  Hawaii does not observe daylight savings time, so from May thru October it's 6 hours behind Eastern Standard Time.

It's the 3rd largest island (of the Hawaiian islands)
The island is 44 miles long and 30 miles wide
The population (in 2005) is over 900,000 (on that tiny island?!?!)
Oahu has the most resident's and the most visitors out of all the Hawaiian islands
It has 60 accessible beaches

23 State Parks
4.5 million visitors each year
74 Hotels

The highest peak of Oahu is Mount Ka'ala - 4,025 feet tall

We will be stationed at the Pearl Harbor Naval Base
This is an aeral view of the Pearl Harbor Area

This is a closer view of the base itself.  You can see the Arizona Memorial on the bottom left

I have made a moving notebook for us.  There is so much we have to do just to move to Hawaii.  I honestly think it's easier to move to Italy or Japan.  ha ha!  The main reason things are more difficult, is because we're moving to a small island.  Some things aren't allowed AT ALL - for obvious reasons.  Pets are insane.. it's gonna cost major bucks to get all our pets over there.  I don't even know if we'll be able to take them.

Anyways - we are excited.  This is a once in a lifetime opportunity!  We know we are blessed!  I know I will have to turn to ya'll sometimes because moving with the military can be very stressful.  Just please remember us in your prayers.. we have a lot to do to get ready!
